As most customers will already be aware, Microsoft releases it’s updates for Dynamics 365, in 2 “release waves”. Dynamics 365 Release Waves are biannual updates that introduce new features and improvements across Dynamics 365 applications. These updates are released in two waves each year:
- Release Wave 1: Features are released from April to September.
- Release Wave 2: Features are released from October to March.
These waves provide early access to new capabilities, allowing users to test and validate them before they are automatically enabled. This approach ensures that businesses can plan and adapt to new functionalities, enhancing their operations and staying up-to-date with the latest innovations.
The 2025 release wave 1 for Dynamics 365 introduces new innovations that offer significant capabilities to transform your business. This release includes hundreds of new features across Dynamics 365 applications. In this article we will take a look at the features included in 2025 release wave 1 for Dynamics 365 Sales.

1. Sales Qualification Agent
Public Preview: March 2025
General Availability: April 2025
The Sales qualification agent autonomously researches information about every Lead from both CRM data and public web sources and makes recommendations on whether that Lead should be qualified. It analyses data to provide the most important actions to be taken on Leads, allowing you to spend more time communicating with customers and less time triaging Leads.
This agent combines the power of three agents; the Research Agent, Prioritization Agent and Engagement Agent.
The Research agent collates information from CRM data and public web sources to provide the following:
- Agent generated recommendations on how to engage with Leads
- 360 degree view of Leads and Accounts through autogenerated summaries
- Confirm Lead details, such as validating email address
- Suggestions on who else at the Leads company to contact
- See existing opportunities tied to the Lead, Contact and Account
- Compose personalized emails based on talking points generated from research
The Prioritization agent assesses the strength of the data and evaluates common sales criteria such as authority and budget to identify Leads with the highest likelihood to qualify. It enables the sellers to:
- Get a list of Leads to focus on
- Stay on top of the high quality Leads
The Engagement Agent creates personalized email based on all data gathered by the research agent, maximizing response rates.
2. Automating Follow-Up Communications
Release Preview: April 2025
General Release – TBA
The Sales Qualification agent automates follow-ups with Leads, increasing the changes of getting a response, booking an appointment and qualifying a Lead.
The agent can dynamically adjust what is sent and when, based on the context of a Leads response.
Key features include:
- Automated and dynamic follow-ups based on lead response: Automated emails are drafted after the initial email and automatically adjusted according to the Leads response.
- Out-of-office (OOF) response management: out of office reponses are detected and the follow-up schedule adjusted, resuming only when the prospect is available to respond.
- Lead self-booking: Save sellers time on admin tasks by allowing prospects to easily schedule meetings by selecting available times that align with the seller’s calendar in real time.
3. Ground Agent in External Data Sources
Public Preview: April 2025
General Release: TBA
Agents can be fine-tuned by defining custom instructions that mimic the intuition of the best sellers in your team. Key Features include:
- Specify web resources that the Sales agent uses to identify the Leads finances, priorities abd business environment.
- Customise the agent to retrieve data from 3rd party platforms, including case history from Service now, or information stored on SharePoint documents
- Define the qualification and prioritisation criteria in simple words
