Each year Microsoft has a set roadmap to deprecate or remove support for a number of products. Microsoft deprecations means that they will remove the feature or capability from a future major release, but don’t worry the feature will still work and is fully supported until it’s officially removed. What we aim to do is ensure that our clients know when deprecations and end of life support is due so that clients can plan upgrades or moving to a cloud solution with Synergy Technology, as appropriate.
Please note that in this blog Voice of the Customer was deprecated. If you were using VoC and are looking for alternatives check out Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Voice which is included with Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise, Customer Service Enterprise, Customer Insights, Field Service, Marketing, and Human Resources. Please note that Customer Voice can be purchased as a separate solution as well.
A full roadmap of all products that are due to end support in 2021 can be found here: End of support 2021. but let me highlight solutions for our Dynamics 365 Sales, Customer Service and Business Central clients here. Before I jump into that please note that these solutions reaching the end of support means that there will be no new security or none-security updates or free or paid assisted support options. Please note that if you are using these solutions Synergy Technology can still support you however, we cannot fix bugs. Additionally, we can help you to upgrade or migrate to a more suitable solution.
Please also note that the products that will retire in 2021 are governed by the Microsoft modern lifecycle policy which means that the product or service remains in support if clients must remain current for servicing and system requirements or that customers are licensed to use the product.
To that end please see the Dynamics 365 solutions for end of support this year:
- Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises, 2019 release wave 2, version 15.x
- Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises, 2020 release wave 1, version 16.x
- Dynamics 365 Layout
The following product is governed by the Fixed Policy (which applies to some commercial products through volume licensing)
- Dynamics CRM 2011
And finally, products that Microsoft is moving to extended support are:
- Dynamics 365 (CRM 2016)
- Dynamics NAV 2016
We can still support these solutions but cannot provide bug fixes. If you are using these solutions contact us to arrange a discovery meeting so we can advise on the best course of action.
