Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot, is the world’s first AI assistant in both CRM and ERP, bringing next-generation AI to every line of business.
In March Microsoft announced its new generation of AI products across all of its business applications suite. This included the launch of its new AI powered assistant, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot.
Microsoft reports that a survey it conducted into business trends revealed that close to 9 out of 10 workers hoped to use AI to help them in their work by reducing competitive tasks.
Microsoft hopes that Dynamics 365 Copilot will allow workers to spend more time on the best parts of their job, and reduce mundane tasks by utilising AI tools built for service, operations, sales, marketing and supply chain.
Customer relationship management (CRM) such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, are indispensable customer and business data sources in many businesses today. One downside to these systems however is that in order to keep them up-to-date and accurate, they require monotonous tasks like manual data-entry, note taking and content generation.
Microsoft believes that by taking advantage of recent advances in generative AI, it will be able to automate many of the most boring and laborious tasks in Dynamics 365, thereby unlocking the creative potential of the workforce. The time saved can than be used to concentrate on innovation and creativity, improving business outcomes across all lines of business.
There are many examples of how Copilot can help improve outcomes and save time across the different areas of Microsoft Dynamics 365:
Dynamics 365 Business Central
In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Copilot could help with the creation of product listings for online ecommerce. Product descriptions could be AI generated in mere moments using product attributes such as size, colour, material and style. Descriptions could be further refined by specifying the tone of voice, or length of description required. BC customers using Shopify can then easily publish the products to their storefronts.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales and Viva Sales
In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales and Viva Sales, Copilot could reduce time spent on admin tasks, and help write email responses to customers. CoPilot could also create an email summary of a teams meeting to be emailed through Outlook, pulling in details from the seller’s CRM such as product or pricing information. This will reduce the amount of time sellers spend checking and replying to emails, freeing up their time to do other tasks, and spend more time with their customers.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Dynamics 365 Marketing
Copilot could help marketers with content creation, data exploration and audience segmentation within Dynamics 365 Customer Insights and Dynamics 365 Marketing.
Copilot could help marketers generate and maintain customer segments by having a dialogue with the data platform using natural language. The data platform could then suggest additional segments and insights that the marketer hasn’t considered.
Copilot could also help to write content for emails and websites using key topics suggested by the marketer and taking into account the company’s previous marketing content as well as the internet, to increase the relevance of the content generated.
Microsoft Supply Chain Center
Within Microsoft Supply Chain Center, Copilot will proactively flag external issues such as financials, weather of geography, that may impact the supply chain process. These predictive insights could then pinpointthe orders affected across the inventory, distribution, carrier or supplier network and automatically generate email to alert partners and allay problems before they happen.
The Future of Microsoft Dynamics 365
In the future, Microsoft believes that generative AI such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Copilot will transform business applications, and that users will come to expect applications to include the sort of insight and improvements in operational efficiency that AI provides.
