January 31st, 2020. The day that the United Kingdom (UK) officially left the European Union (EU). From this day onward, 2020 is being treated as a transition period but after the transition period, the UK Government will operate import and export controls on goods moving between the EU and GB.
These controls will be introduced in three stages at different times starting in January, then in April and finally in June 2021.
It is expected that the EU will also operate full import and export controls on goods moving between GB and the EU from 1st January 2021.
As a result of this, there will be significant changes to the process for moving goods between GB and the EU. All businesses moving goods across the GB-EU border will need to take account of these changes and adapt accordingly. All of this must be documented correctly and stored in a suitable CRM.
By now, you should have reviewed your privacy information, internal records, and logs to identify any details that will need updating after the transition period. These will all need to be stored in the central repository.
